PEOPLE, WHO LOVE PEOPLE! (More than the average)
I like to remind you of the people who genuinely do their best, to make our lives a lot more comfortable and a lot of them are VOLUNTEERS.
I would like to list a few of them, the ones I can think of, but please forgive me if I have left any out, who are doing something similar. I know they do not do this work to get recognised, but it is always nice to be remembered
I start with: (not in order of importance or need)
1 SES, the “State Emergency Services” volunteers, who are always ready to help when, in all kinds of weather, difficult situations in the bush, other times when the odds seem impossible, they battle on and help with love in their hearts, to aid their fellow men and the animals, who get themselves into trouble, whether through their own fault or by accident.
2 The “Volunteer fire brigades”, especially the “Bush Fire” crews, who do such a marvellous job, endangering their own lives, to help the unfortunate people, who get caught in a bush fire situation. We watch these man and women do their job on television, but we have no idea, what they have to go through, the dangers they put themselves into etc., to get people out of trouble.
3 The “Ambulance” workers, not volunteers as a rule, who are always ready to help an unfortunate person and they do it with pleasure. Imagine the traumas they endure, when they come across an accident victim, who is badly hurt etc. how they must feel? But they do the work just the same over and over again, because they love their fellow man.
4 The “Local Volunteer Coastguard” teams, “Life savers” and “Helicopter Rescue” crews and many more; they all take their life into situations where not many people would want to go.
5 The men and ladies in “opp-shops”, who day after day man these shops, to provide a service that is absolutely necessary these days, for those who are less fortunate than others and want cheap and good clothes or even a set of cutlery and cannot go to a regular shop.
6 Mr. Ian McKiernan and his annual “Keep Australia Beautiful” campaign, where thousands of volunteers come together and collect rubbish, that you have dumped into the streets or waterways. They do it, so we can have a better environment to live in.
7 The “Get-up” team, who work tirelessly, to stop money hungry and other unscrupulous people doing things that affect the environment negatively.
8 I am thinking of businesses, who also contribute a lot to the betterment of society, such as the “New Internationalist Co-op”, who not only sell earth friendly goods, but also send out a newsletters, making people aware of what is going on in the world, especially in the poorer countries like India etc
9 Natural Health workers, who do their best to make people well, through natural ways, without side effects, instead of chemical drugs, which make people sick in another way.
10 Health food shops, who really try to sell the natural wares we need to keep well and I particularly want to point out Mrs. Flannery’s chain of stores in Queensland. Some health food shops are selling all sorts of things to make money, but they will not make you better, as they are not natural or even organic.(I mentioned the difference between Health food shops and Natural food stores in my book).
11 “Empowerment Products” on the Gold Coast, are always sending out warnings to people, about all sorts of healing methods and also warn you against products, that are supposed to help you, but instead will not do you any good at all, except make you poorer.
12 There are people in Australia, (probably in other countries as well) who go around restaurants at night and collect foods, which were not sold or over-ordered, and take them to special places, where the less fortunate can get them and have a really nice meal, sometimes even caviar or lobster. These folk do this every night of the week and are very seldom recognised. Good on you guys!
13 “Meals on Wheels” as well, is a wonderful organisation. Every day these men and women take the hot meals to those who cannot get out of their homes and rely entirely on this service for food.
14 The “Lolly pop “ people at school crossings. Hey, how about them? Our children are so much safer now with these volunteers on the job, whether it rains or shines, they are there. 15 “Victims of Crime Assistance League”, helping those who have been criminally affected and need serious help, from those who can deliver this service freely.
I probably have left a heap of other organisations and individuals out of the above list, but I can’t think of you. Please forgive me, but I know you are appreciated anyway and you certainly are not forgotten by those, whom you help so lovingly.
It is always a pleasure to give. It makes you feel special and the rewards are numerous. Remember, “Whatever given in love, will be returned to you ten-fold.” The thing is, NOT to give, just because you want to be repaid ten-fold. That is NOT giving with love, is it?
Our economy would not work without volunteers. There are these people everywhere and they do it with love. Please consider them and maybe become one yourself. It is rewarding and you will really feel important doing this work, BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT. Your `customers` always love you and let you know that as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message and I hope I have inspired you to do a good deed as often as possible. Look around you and see the unfortunate people who need you! Yes you are special and can do so much out there. Just an encouraging word for a person who is sad, will really pick them up so quickly
Give it a try and see how you go. I used to do this work, when I was stationary and I loved it. Now I am a roving advocate on health matters, but not just physical health, there is so much more, as you read in my book.
I hope to meet you one day. Make yourself known to me when you know I am in your area.
All my love as always, Shanti.
